PAGE Therapeutics, an ETH Zurich spin-off, is a platform-based oncology company developing compounds that disrupt cell-cell adhesion in cancer cells to prevent metastasis.

Its approach targets circulating tumour cell (CTC) clusters — multicellular groupings of cancer cells held together by adhesion molecules that act as highly efficient pioneers of the metastatic process, and whose presence is associated with poor prognosis. Currently, no approved drugs exist to target CTC clusters or prevent their formation.

PAGE’s lead compounds have shown dissolution of CTC clusters and a survival benefit in preclinical mouse models, shutting down metastasis. This mechanism was validated in a proof-of-concept clinical trial demonstrating CTC cluster dissolution in breast cancer patients — a study selected by Nature Medicine as one of the top 11 studies to shape medicine in 2023. The company is now advancing new chemistry with the highest cluster-dissolution activity identified to date.
